Abstract:   (23 Views)
This research was conducted to investigate the effect date of trunk girdling of kiwifruit vines on the yield and reserves of their canes and roots for two years 2023-2024, in Astara County. Kiwifruit vines were girdled at two-week intervals from mid-May to mid-September at a height of half a meter above the ground in 10 time treatments. The results showed that yield and other quantitatively measured traits (except for average fruit weight) were affected by the time of girdling. Yield and fruit set percentage were also affected by the interaction effect of the year of experiment and girdling time. The highest yield was observed in the On year (first year) at the time of girdling in mid-August (fruit development stage) of 121.4 kg, and in the Off year (second year) at the time of girdling in mid-May (sepals beginning to bloom stage) of 71.73 kg. Girdling in late June during the rapid fruit growth stage reduced fruit set, vine yield and root starch and carbohydrates and increased cane dry matter. Girdling in the summer months reduced about 2-2.5% of root dry matter in the first year. compared to girdling in the spring months. According to the results of the present study, girdling in May 5 (at the beginning of sepal expension) and August 5 (fruit development stage) can be used to increase the yield of the Hayward cultivar.
